Many years ago the SLO County Boardroom filled with concerned citizens literally begging for a safe crossing on Los Osos Valley Road. I lived in Pismo Beach at the time. I listened to the comments and then pointed out to the County Board that Los Osos was NOT ADA compliant. If an able bodied person couldn't get across LOVR, then neither could a blind person or someone with a cane, a walker or a wheelchair. I know live in Los Osos where the saga continues in a new boardroom. Today I reported to SLO County Public Works that the lights are NOT flashing on the mid-street crosswalks on LOVR. Transportation, and public safety has inspired many public comments and now amusing films. Pedestrian Safety Public Comments (Click on picture to play video) Dig Los Osos

The issue of Environmental Justice is laced all throughout the issues of Los Osos and the PG&E application to extend the life of Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. The Coastal Representative (District 2) wanted to be on the Coastal Commission. This is a a representative who tried to cut out all bus stops to the coast of Los Osos, including; Sweet Springs Nature Preserve, Baywood Park and it's Farmers Market. In a nuclear power plant emergency; the transportation dependent will NOT be able to evacuate from Los Osos-Baywood Park without an equitable transit plan. This February 22, 2011 speech was placed on the SLO County web as a statement for the record and is also mentioned in a complaint against the County on behalf of myself and Does 1 -20. I wanted anyone submitting information to the County to be able to see how dismissive the County would be if a Gibson ambition was questioned. The ambition of becoming a spokesperson for the Central Coast to the California Coastal Commission began last year www.slocounty.ca.gov/bos/BOSagenda.htmSupervisor Hill had just listened to two men who vaguely spoke of a bus stop in the wrong location. But when a woman identified specifically what was wrong; she was interrupted. On the issue of the Seismic Survey, I expected the County to be dismissive of over half the public testimony, based on gender. I expected the County to be dismissive of anyone from Los Osos based on slanderous follow-up board comments on 2 - 22-11

The Central Coast of California faced a marine environmental holocaust. This video about Representation says it all; "Representation." I continued to speak up carefully, even haltingly after I was intimidated with an interruption. (click on picture to play video) We needed input from a Marine Biologist that had experience in Estuary Eco-systems. We needed a council of environmentalists that included the Native American stakeholders. Instead we got a politician to represent the interests of the Central Coast.

I am looking back and trying to figure out how we got to this point....Understanding how we got here is essential to understanding where we go from here or where PG&E and Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant goes from here. For me it began with a public comment before the SLO County Board of Supervisors. I played a video about the Tsunami and made comments about Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. I stated a wave of misfortune was coming our way and spoke of the flotsam that could clog Diablo Canyon intake. (Click on picture to play) When photographs of Diablo Canyon began showing up on the net and in the national news, in relationship to Fukushima; I knew there would be an action to the reaction. # Volunteer opportunities with Eco-SLO; "Tsunami Debris Arriving Soon on the Central Coast" Over 5 million tons of debris washed ashore in the wake of the 2011 Japan Tsunami. The Japanese Government estimates that about 30 percent of that 5 million, or 1.5 million tons of debris, was buoyant enough to wash away from the coast of Japan and enter the Pacific Ocean currents. The debris is already arriving in Alaska and Washington and larger quantities will wash ashore in Oregon and California in the coming months. Read more... Or click here to see our video on KCOY! www.kcoy.com/Global/story.asp?S=21291091If you would like to join the cleanup effort, meet the group on Saturday March 9th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the MontaƱa De Oro, Sandspit parking lot. In order to further reduce waste during these cleanups, ECOSLO requests that volunteers bring reusable gloves, reusable bucket or bag, and carpool to this family friendly event.

Shadow Art refers to the shadows that are found on bridges, walls, and ruins in Japan. These shadows are the last fleeting remains of humans killed when two Atomic Bombs were dropped on Japan. No Hidden Agenda The Entrapped Nude in Bread Bag Shoes is one in a series of giant nude paper-dolls exhibited in SLO. Some have a kinder gentler message, others have pointed political messages, including; My Body Belongs to Me and the Rape of Los Osos. These jointed paper sculptures can hang indoors or out and each reveals a story. The "NO Hidden Agenda" Installation was created for Open Studios Art Tour 2012, to show how much I resented dividing my time between advocacy and the Arts in October. The California Lands Commission had approved the PG&E Seismic Testing off the California Central Coast and the SLO County Board of Supervisors had a deadline for arguments of October 19th. Thus this nude and many dated Board Agenda's became a site-specific installation above utility meeter. Why Nude? The nude form is most associated with art. There are Countries in Africa where female activists bear their breasts when under physical attack by government militia to remind and humiliate their abusers that they are mothers. This is a profound female statement. Since this temporary work was installed; Wonder Bread declared bankruptcy, putting an end to the whimsical wonder-bread bags, which I once wore to keep my socks dry and warm when doing sculpture work in inclement weather. The SLO County Supervisor who pushed for the high energy Seismic Studies suffered a political defeat at the November 14th Coastal Commission and distracted the press two days later by announcing his extra marital affair to his legislative assistant and impending Divorce. No Hidden Agenda became a timely and historic site-installation.
